HISTORY

In 1996, Mr. Senthil B. Kumar established an Education Network known as EdNET, a network of IT education, training and certification centers worldwide with franchise centers in many countries including the U.S, Canada, U.K., Norway, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, and India. EdNET was supported by Dr. Simon Sim and Dr. B Singh.  Between 1998 and 2000, EdNET established educational partnership alliances with Microsoft, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Lotus and CIW to offer Information Technology Certifications, Internet Software Services Training and Certification. Also, the company offered testing services through its network of Authorized Prometric Testing Centers. In 2001, EdNET was partially acquired by a leading training company.

In 2001, Mr. Kumar transformed some of the EdNET Centers into Qsofttraining.net Training Centers.  Qsoft was offering specialized Microsoft.NET training solutions even before the .NET framework was officially launched in 2002. Qsoft was a pioneer in offering E-Commerce Certifications online (under the name ePro) and networking, Internet security, and web application programming – both through classroom and online delivery models. Qsoft offered Certifications via its VUE Authorized Testing Center.

In 2002, Qsoft was renamed iUniversity, which offered Global Business Programs, IT Certifications and Management Training Courses.  iUniversity, in alliance with Benchmark Online, entered into an International Marketing Associate (IMA) Agreement with the University of Washington to promote Online Executive Certificate Programs.  iUniversity was later diversified as California University of Technology.  iUniversity, CalUniversity and Benchmark were all corporate initiatives under the parent company iGLOBAL group, an International Incubation and Angel Funding Company started by Mr. Kumar.

In 2003, CalUniversity was incorporated in the State of California and began to operate in the city of West Covina.  Its initial founding members were Dr. Michael Zullo, Dr. Richard Allen and Mr. Larry Golda under the leadership of Mr. Kumar, Co-Chairman and CEO.  CalUniversity began to operate as a Distance Education and Learning (DEL) University.  Its educational programs were developed by Benchmark Online (a Division of iGLOBAL) who assigned the rights of program curricula and degree to CalUniversity.  Benchmark Online continued to provide e-learning platform solutions, instructional design and e-learning content development services to CalUniversity in the earliest stages of the university's formation.

In 2005, CalUniversity received California State Approval to grant undergraduate and graduate Degrees and has been fully operational since that time.  Mr. Kumar and Dr. Finian Tan, together as founder and co-founder of the University, have been funding its growth jointly through iGlobal and Vickers Financial Group.  It has been their passion to build a truly global Online University.
