MBA - Banking and Finance

A Master’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in commercial banking and international finance is designed to prepare students for careers in the financial district and banking management, money management, financial consulting, and financial institutional operation. Students pursuing this emphasis will learn about organizational development, leadership and development, financial organization behavior, and commercial banking resource management.


MBA CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS (45 units)

1. REQUIRED COURSES: 21 units/7 Courses
  • GRC 500 MBA Program Planning & Practices & Knowledge TRA
  • ACC 511 Financial Statement Analysis
  • MKT 517 Marketing and Brand Management
  • ECO 518 Economics for Decision Making
  • MGT 525 Strategic Human Resource Management
  • MGT 545 Strategic Management & Competitive Globalization
  • GRC 505 Problem Analysis & Research Methods

Students will take the Comprehensive Competency Assessment 1 (CCA1) upon completion of the above listed Required Courses.

2. SPECIFIC COURSES FOR EMPHASIS: 15 units/5 courses
  • FIN 512 International Financial Management
  • FIN 515 Entrepreneurial Finance
  • FIN 530 Bank Management
  • FIN 533 Commercial Banking; PR: FIN 530
  • FIN 540 Capital Markets

Comprehensive Competency Assessment 2 (CCA2) Exam will be taken after completing the 5 emphasis courses

3. PREPARATION OF MASTER’S CAPSTONE PROJECT OR MASTER’S THESIS: 9 Units

To fulfill this academic requirement, student must select either a Master’s Capstone Project or a Master’s Thesis and receives approval by the Student Advisory Faculty (SAF). Students must successfully complete 9 semester units of coursework in this area.

For the Master’s Capstone Project, students must complete 9 semester units of coursework ending with a Capstone Project Report:
  • GRC 520 – Project Research Plan; PR: CCA 2
  • GRC 530 – Master’s Capstone Project; PR: GRC 520

For the Master’s Thesis, students must complete 9 semester units of coursework ending with a Thesis:
  • GRC 525 – Thesis Plan; PR: CCA 2
  • GRC 535 – Master’s Thesis; PR: GRC 525
