Admissions Requirements for International Students

International/foreign students from countries where educational programs were not delivered or provided in the English Language must submit the following additional documents in addition to those listed above.

1. Official transcripts from all prior college/university education are to be sent directly to the Office of the Registrar of California Intercontinental University within six (6) weeks from the start date.

2. Transcripts from international institutions of higher education that are not in English require an evaluation from a recognized Credential Evaluation Agency, a charter member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). California Intercontinental University recommends that students send their transcripts to World Education Services (WES), P.O. Box 5087, Bowling Green Station, New York, New York 10274-5087 (website: http://www.wes.org) or International Education Research Foundation, Inc. (IERF), Credential Evaluation, P.O. Box 3665, Culver City, CA 90231 (website: http://www.ierf.org, Tel. (310) 258-9451, Email info@ierf.org). The official evaluation must be completed and sent to California Intercontinental University prior to enrollment.

3. Official evidence of English language proficiency demonstrated by one of the following:

  • A minimum score of 500 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or 61 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or a 6.0 on the International English Language Test (IELTS) for undergraduate students prior to enrollment. Master Students must have a minimum score of 530 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a 71 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or a 6.5 on the International English Language Test (IELTS) prior to enrollment. Doctoral students must have a minimum score of 530 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a 71 on the Internet Based Test (iBT), or a 6.5 on the International English Language Test (IELTS) prior to enrollment.   • An official transcript indicating completion of at least 30 semester hours of credit with an average grade of “C” or higher for undergraduates, “B” or higher for graduates, at an accredited/recognized college or university where the language of instruction is English.
  • An official transfer transcript indicating a grade of a “C” or higher for undergraduates, “B” or higher for graduates, in an English composition course from an accredited/recognized college or university.
  • Undergraduates only: A high school diploma successfully completed at an accredited/recognized high school where the language of instruction is English.

Once the Admissions Office receives an Application Form, official transcript evaluation and all required supporting documents, the processing of the international student’s admission status may take about five to six weeks.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

Distance Education and Learning at California Intercontinental University is offered in the English language. It is essential for an applicant to possess adequate command of the English language for his/her potentially successful completion of a degree program. Each prospective foreign or international student must demonstrate English Proficiency (See requirements above).

California Intercontinental University does not provide remedial education in the English language. During the admission process, special attention will be paid to the applicant’s ability to read, write, and understand the English language. California Intercontinental University reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone whom the University believes does not meet the academic prerequisites. California Intercontinental University does not provide any type of visa services (F-1 Visa), nor does it vouch for the immigration status of any student’s relationship with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
